  • There are three types of people in the world, those who don't know what's happening, those who wonder what's happening and those on the streets that make things happen.

Of Happiness Ch.3: Varying Degrees of “Absence of Happiness”

Posted by Raunak Mahajan on August 5, 2012

The condition “Absence of Happiness” consists of 5 levels listed below in ascending order of their fulfillment of instinct driven desire.

  1. Indifference
  2. Pleasure
  3. Joy
  4. Bliss
  5. Supreme Transcendence (ST)

Since ST is the highest form of the “Absence of Happiness” condition, it must be the result of an act or thought that fulfills a desire that comes closest to satisfying the instincts determined by the need to survive and multiply. One such act is that of coitus or sexual union where the brief moment of orgasm reflects this state.

Some define Nirvana as an escape from the cycle of birth and death, some as a detachment from mind and soul. It might be a good idea to seek Nirvana within life itself and in the acceptance of natural instincts and desires of human beings.  Maybe Nirvana manifests itself as ST.
